Oregon Historical County Records Guide Offers New Features
August 6, 2002
The Oregon Historical County Records Guide has some new features:
1.) It's searchable. Links from the top and bottom of every page allow you to search just the county records guide. Thus, for example, if you want to find out which counties have 1905 census records, the search engine will save you the trouble of browsing through 36 inventories. Go to search page.
2.) Each county history now includes a "FunFact." These brief sidebars provide colorful insights into the history, geography, or culture of each county. They highlight interesting people, places, or events that help make each county unique. See Harney County example.
3.) The guide includes more scenic images. See Hood River County and Yamhill County examples.
4.) The images are tagged with descriptive information to assist people with disabilities and those who have their images turned off in their browsers.
5.) Full navigational links are provided at the bottom of each page. The most heavily used links are included in the header of each page.
6.) The file sizes of graphics are smaller to facilitate faster page loading.
Please contact Gary Halvorson <gary.d.halvorson@state.or.us> if you have questions about the additions to the guide.
