Longtime Reference Archivist Retires
David Wendell retired at the end of November after 24 years of service to the State.
Dave started his career at the Oregon State Archives in 1986 as part of a grant project to inventory and create records retention schedules for all state agencies.
After several years working as a Records Analyst, Dave moved to the Reference Unit where he has assisted thousands of the State Archives researchers. His knowledge and expertise about Archives holdings and processes helped to groom new archivists.
"Dave's gentle demeanor and willingness to go the extra mile to help out our patrons over the years has earned him a well-deserved reputation for excellent customer service," stated Mary Beth Herkert, State Archivist. "We will miss him."
The entire State Archives staff as well as the entire Secretary of State’s agency, wish him a long and happy retirement!
