005	Chair Clarno	Calls the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m. and opens a public hearing on SM 4 which urges Congress of United States to enact emergency hazardous fuels reduction plan..
SM 4 PUBLIC HEARING
010	Paulette Pyle	Oregonians for Food & Shelter. Explains the purpose of SM 4 which urges Congress to bypass some environmental laws to get the fire burn off the forest floor to prevent future forest fires. Says this bill passed the House by a vote of 57-1. Says if the U. S. Senate does not act now, Oregon would have to wait one year to remove this waste.
031	Anthony Bieda	Lane County Government. Talks about the economics of forested lands in Lane County and the fact that they have suffered four forest fires this summer. Says that SM 4 offers better management of natural resources for the county’s economic benefit.
055	Chair Clarno	Closes the public hearing and opens a work session on SM 4.
SM 4 WORK SESSION
057	Sen. Atkinson	MOTION: Moves SM 4 be sent to the floor with a BE ADOPTED recommendation.
		VOTE: 3-0
061	Chair Clarno	Hearing no objection, declares the motion CARRIED. SEN. FERRIOLI AND SEN. ATKINSON will lead discussion on the floor.
068	Chair Clarno	Closes the work session and adjourns the meeting at 2:11 p.m.
