United States to enact emergency hazardous fuels reduction plan.. |

Oregonians for Food & Shelter. Explains the purpose of SM 4 which urges
Congress to bypass some environmental laws to get the fire burn off the
forest floor to prevent future forest fires. Says this bill passed the House by a vote of 57-1. Says if the U. S. Senate does not act now,
Oregon would have to wait one year to remove this waste. |

Lane County Government. Talks about the economics of forested lands in Lane County and
the fact that they have suffered four forest fires this summer. Says that SM 4 offers better management of
natural resources for the county’s economic benefit. |
