Calls the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. and opens a work session on HB 2179, which allows the Director of the Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) to establish alternative regulatory options for the purpose of encouraging emerging technologies.

Committee Administrator.  Explains that the public hearing on HB 2179 was held February 15, 2005, at which time DCBS representatives discussed the need to adopt alternative regulatory processes for emerging technologies relating to building codes.  Reports that there is a subsequent referral to the House Committee on Trade and Economic Development.
