BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SUBJECT MATTER

OR CHANGE IN SPEAKER

On Wednesday, February 20th, the House Committee on Government Accountability & Information Technology in addition to Representative Nancy Nathanson toured the State Data Center. The facility provides information technology infrastructure to nearly every Oregon State government agency by housing and supporting thousands of agency servers as well as archiving selected critical electronic data for each agency. The committee observed the facilityís ability to provide service with little or no interruption in cases of emergency due to duplicative power and storage systems. The committee also received information on the security of the facility and the data stored there. The Centerís management continues to pursue efforts to modernize agency servers and identify opportunities for statewide efficiencies and energy-savings for the facility specifically.
