Deschutes County Records Inventory
Road and Bridge Records
1877-[ongoing]
Series documents the development, construction, maintenance, and improvement of county roads and bridges. Records include bonds, general road and highway maps, petitions to have roads constructed or altered, notices, complaints, vacation records, and correspondence. Information includes road numbers and names and descriptions of the activity occurring on the road. Information concerning county roads may be available on the Integrated Road Information System (IRIS) at the county road office. Technical road survey maps may be found in the series titled Road Maps and Survey Notes.
The fee-based subscriber version of the Local Area Virtual Atlas (LAVA) includes GIS map layers documenting traffic light, milepost, bridge, road tax district, and other road-related information. The Legacy Roads application includes historical names, right-of-way widths, establishment dates, visual representations, and related records about Deschutes County roads. The searchable On-Line Road Maps application includes urban and rural series road maps. County commissioners journal information related to road establishments from circa 1879 to the present is included on a searchable computer database available in the Deschutes County Road Department, Engineering Office. Road jacket (case file) and road vacation information are also indexed on a searchable computer database available in the engineering office.
