Marion County Records Inventory

County Court Judicial Journals


Series records the proceedings of the county court for civil and some criminal cases. Information includes judge, plaintiff, defendant, and attorney names; trial date; memorandum of subsequent proceedings; and fees charged. Cases include citizenship petitions, legal changes to name, commitments, and writs of habeas corpus. Portions of these records may be restricted.

Records at the Oregon State Archives:
County Court Journals [includes naturalization and insane cases], vol. 2-5, 1875-1939 (4 volumes);
County Court Journals [Register of County Court Matters], vol. 5, 1913-1920 (1 volume);
[County Court Register-includes mostly juvenile cases], ca.1890-1957 (1 volume).

Records at the Marion County Courthouse Parking Structure, Circuit Court North Archives:
Register of Actions Cir. Court [Circuit-includes some county court actions-with index], vol. 1, 1890-1893 (1 volume).

Records at the Marion County Archives:
Co. Court Docket [County Law], vol. 1, 1874-1906 (1 volume).
