Health and Human Services Records

1991-[ongoing]

Series documents the activities of the county health and human services programs operated by the county. Series includes narrative or statistical monthly, quarterly, and annual reports or minutes discussing program goals, objectives, and accomplishments. Program areas include public and mental health; juvenile services; adult and family services; women, infant, and child (WIC) services; alcohol and drug abuse; and developmental disabilities. In 1994 the name of the Children and Youth Services Commission was changed to the Commission on Children and Families.

The state, through a contract with Lifeways, a nonprofit organization, has provided mental health services since 2005 and developmental disabilities services since 2009 to the Umatilla County area. The county continues to provide alcohol and drug treatment services. Umatilla County does not have a separate public health advisory board. Advisory input for the public health program is through community coalitions. Actions are also documented to some extent in the board of county commissioners records and in the commission on children and families minutes.
