A member of the of the Natural Area Preserves Advisory Committee (NAPAC) uses a net to gather specimens while conducting field work related to candidate sites in ca. 1975. The committee was replaced by the Natural Heritage Advisory Council in 1979. The council maintains the Oregon Register of Natural Heritage Areas that includes places with significant natural heritage elements.
