A 1935 cartoon depicts the convictions of several Oregon radicals by "Oregon Bosses" as a car travelling up a road to "Fascism Hill" and the abuses beginning in Nazi Germany. The Military Department monitored communist and radical socialist and labor groups in the 1930s.
