Internationally renowned singers perform with the Portland Opera Orchestra and Chorus in a four-production season of exciting opera at the Keller Auditorium in Portland. Although sung in their original languages, the operas are easily understood by an avid and growing audience, thanks to the opera’s projected English translations. The opera’s efforts are not limited to the Keller Auditorium stage. The Portland Opera Studio Artist program, a training ground for up and coming young singers from around the nation, is featured in its own opera production in the Newmark Theater. In addition, the opera’s Education and Outreach programs continue year-round, including fully staged traveling opera productions that tour the state, in-school programs, student dress rehearsals, pre- and post-performance lectures, public presentations, radio shows, as well as costume shop and backstage tours.
In addition to its Opera productions, the company also presents the Broadway Across America Portland series which delights regional audiences with nationally touring Broadway productions.
