Back Cover Photo Contest Winner
This photo was selected for publication on the back cover of the 2011-2012 print version of the Oregon Blue Book.
“Great Blue Heron at Summer Lake” was taken by Judi Dickey at Summer Lake Park in northwest Tigard. The park includes many acres of wildlife preserve and hiking trails between two bustling neighborhoods. Judi, a member of the Yamhill Valley Camera Club (YVCC), photographed this resting heron while on a club field trip one chilly February morning.
Judi became interested in learning more about photography with her first digital camera three years ago. She especially enjoys taking close-ups of animals, insects and flowers. The YVCC hosts the photography exhibit for the Yamhill County Fair, and members compete in the larger Columbia Council of Camera Clubs. Judi has been an educator for 31 years, and she makes her home in McMinnville.
