About the contest
The Oregon Blue Book sponsors a cover photo contest open to all amateur photographers who are Oregon residents. The photos must be taken in Oregon. Submissions for the 2013-2014 contest will be accepted through October 4, 2012.

We selected dozens of photographs from the hundreds submitted in this year's contest for inclusion throughout this Web version of the Oregon Blue Book. These are supplemented by many entries from previous contests. We thank all of those who entered their photos. They are helping others share in the beauty of Oregon.
About the winner
"Diamond Lake at Sunrise,” was taken in June 2009 by Tom Porter of Albany. Tom took this photo from the shore of the lake with his Nikon D80 camera and Nikkor 18-55 mm lens. He shot just as the light of sunrise was hitting Mt. Bailey. The water was like glass, the mountain glowed and the boat added an interesting focal element. "For once, everything I had planned in my mind was all there in one place," he commented. A retired door and window contractor, Tom became interested in photography in Vietnam. He made the switch from 35 mm slide film to a digital format in 2007.
