Present Duties

The Appraiser Certification and Licensure Board (ACLB) is a semi-independent agency that licenses and certifies real estate appraisers in Oregon and develops and establishes appraisal education and experience requirements in accordance with state and federal laws, standards and guidelines. The board also registers and regulates appraisal management companies.

The board was created in 1991. Its regulatory functions are independent of other realty-related regulatory agencies. The ACLB consists of eight members appointed by the governor. Five of these are appraisers, one represents the perspectives of appraisal management companies, one is from the banking industry and one is a member of the public.
