Present Duties
The Division of Finance and Corporate Securities regulates
Oregon’s state-chartered financial institutions, including banks, trust companies, savings and loan associations and credit unions. It also regulates mortgage bankers, brokers and loan originators, and consumer finance companies (including payday and title loan). It regulates and registers public offerings of securities, and licenses securities
broker-dealers, investment advisors and sales-
persons. The division also regulates debt management providers, check-cashing businesses, credit service organizations, money transmitters, pre-need funeral trusts, endowment cemeteries, appraisal management companies and administers the
Oregon Identity Theft Protection Act. The division provides information to help consumers make informed decisions about financial transactions and recognize and avoid fraud and inappropriate products and services. The division also investigates consumer complaints relating to areas it regulates.
