Present Duties

The Health Licensing Office (HLO) is a state consumer protection office providing centralized regulatory oversight for multiple volunteer citizen boards of health and related professions. The office works to promote consumer protection through education, enforcement and partnerships and to promote a positive business environment by reducing barriers to professional practice.

The boards under HLO’s administration set educational and professional scope of practice requirements for their fields of practice. The office director assumes responsibility for central operations, achieving outcomes, complying with state law and ensuring proper stewardship of office funds.
