Present Duties

The Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman is an independent state agency with a resident-centered mission to enhance the quality of life, improve the level of care, protect the individual rights and promote the dignity of each Oregon citizen housed in a nursing facility, adult foster care home, residential care facility or assisted living facility. Specifically, the office is charged with investigating and resolving complaints made by or on behalf of long-term care facility residents and monitoring the long-term care system. This objective is achieved by trained and certified volunteers who are a regular presence in long-term care facilities throughout the state.
