Present Duties
The Oregon Medical Insurance Pool (OMIP) provides medical insurance for Oregonians who have been denied individual medical insurance coverage because of health conditions, have exhausted Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) benefits, have moved out of their portability carrier’s service area or are eligible for the Health Coverage Tax Credit (HCTC) under the Federal Trade Adjustment Assistance Program or benefits under the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation. OMIP offers enrollees four medical plans from which to choose. In addition to serving on the OMIP Board the DCBS director appoints the remaining eight members with membership from the health insurance industry and the public.
