Present Duties
The Oregon Tourism Commission (dba Travel Oregon), created in 1995 and made semi-independent by the 2003 Legislature, encourages economic growth by strengthening tourism throughout the state. The nine-member commission, appointed by the governor, provides leadership for Oregon’s tourism industry and works to market the state with advertising, publications, public relations, research, tourism development and the state’s Welcome Centers.
Travel Oregon works to enhance visitors’ experiences by providing information resources and trip planning tools that inspire travel and convey the exceptional quality of Oregon. By strengthening economic impacts of the state’s $7.7 billion tourism industry, the commission aims to help improve Oregonians’ quality of life.
