Present Duties

The new Oregon Health Authority (OHA) will transform the state’s system to make quality health care accessible and affordable for every Oregonian. The OHA will work to improve the lifelong health of Oregonians; increase the quality, reliability and availability of care for all Oregonians; and lower or contain the cost of care so it is affordable to everyone.

In 2011 most health-related programs in the state were joined together to form the Health Authority. The OHA is overseen by a nine-member, citizen-led board called the Oregon Health Policy Board. Members are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate.
