Dear Residents of House District 14:
I have a positive vision for Oregon. I see an Oregon where business works with government for sound land use and transportation policy; where our children are safe on the streets, in schools, and at home; where our high schools, colleges and universities attract and turn out high calibre students; and where citizens recognize the value of community over the divisiveness of hatred and bigotry.
As your State Representative, I fought attempts to weaken or repeal Oregon's landmark land-use laws. I defended a woman's right to choose. I continue to work for sound fiscal, environmental and social policy, the kind of policy that keeps Oregon strong. I support efforts to expand the bottle bill and raise the minimum wage.
My top priority is education. In 1995 Oregon was the only state in the country to reduce its commitment to higher education, and we continue to cut funding for our K-12 schools. I want to restore our commitment to our schools. Education, from kindergarten through graduate school, is the key to safer communities, low unemployment, and a vibrant and growing economy.
